Ktm 990 Adventure. I raised the question of T700 Vs KTM 990 Adv ( NOT the 790 ) as I have been considering how to replace my previous 990 stolen in 2017. I bought a 1987 XT 600 Tenere in the meantime which has been a great pleasure. However it has become obvious that using it to nip across to tour the Alps is not really a comfortable option.

No one said the 690 was a dirt bike. The Tenere 700 is not a dirt bike either. But the 690 has a much wider range of use than a T700, because of its lower weight. Your claim on the turning circle of the 690 is true for older models but the 2019+ 690 has addressed that problem nicely and the turning circle is much tighter.
The KTM 790 Adventure R and Yamaha Tenere 700 arrived within a year of each other but are very different motorcycles. YAMAHA TENERE 700 A mid-sized adventure bike from Yamaha was long overdue.
