Warcraft 3 came out in 2002. Warcraft 3 Reforged, in 2019, apparently, so 17 years difference. Age of Empires 2 came out in 1999. Age of Empires 2 HD edition came out in 2013, 14 years difference with AoE2. Before I tell you what's with Warcraft III: Reforged and if it's worth the money, let's clarify something. Warcraft 3 was a timeless game, that you could pretty much install on any modern appliances now… Reforged takes like 30gig and is aesthetically a mess compared to the original art design. And lorewise pretty much everything has been retconned by now. With shadowlands being an affront to warcraft 3.

The true cons of the game are the absolute stripping away of features we had available for years. Ladder and custom campaigns are still gone, and the game is prone to desync issues (even in Campaign!) if you use the updated graphics. WC3Rs community/custom games section is alive and well. Worth the $40 imo.

I purchased WC3 some years ago, along with the TFT expansion. Been a while since I’ve played the game, and went to install it from the Blizzard site like I’ve done many times before. Today, it downloaded WC3 Reforged, painting it with classic graphics. I’ve read over a lot of reviews on Reforged, and I don’t have the money to purchase the Reforged content.
